Reverse osmosis (RO) membranes are the most important part of any RO system. They are made of two- to eight-inch diameter, spiral wound sheets of semi-permeable material designed to let pure water flow through, while keeping back all other impurities. You can find a variety of replacement RO membranes for our Store.
Reverse Osmosis is a water purification technique in which fluid flow is by osmosis across a 4040 RO membrane. Reverse osmosis involves solvent diffusion across a membrane that is either nonporous or uses nanofiltration with pores 0.001 micrometres in size. Typically, water molecules are forced through semi-permeable membranes to remove impurities and contaminants, chemicals, and even microbes.
